These are the abridged details of the remaining wind energy project over which I maintain control.
I prepared a full environmental
impact assessment about twelve years ago with advice and assistance from the planning department of West Dorset
District Council. With the help of ETSU we also undertook a public consultation exercise and gained support
from the likes of the CPRE, Ramblers Association and British Horse Society.
At that time I was involved as General Manager with West Coast Wind Farms Limited in Devon and our first wind
project was
to be in the north of that county. We were successful in obtaining a generating contract worth some £6.5 million
a year under NFFO
2 and I obtained a loan agreement from an overseas bank worth USD$10 million. We unsuccessfully took theplanning
process through 2 public enquiries, to judicial review and then the court of appeal. At this point our funds became depleted and
it was not posible to follow on with this project.
The only good that came from all of this was that my environmental assessment was used by Bournemouth
University as a teaching aid in their environmental
department!
The Dorset site benefits from a 32 KV line that passes through it and a higher than average mean annual wind speed.
We obtained consent for a wind data logger on the site but the data was stolen. I firmly
believe there is merit in the Corton project. I seek someone with the will and enthusiasm to fund
planning and take a share of whatever future business may come from it. The small pictures on the right
will lead you to the pages of the abridged version of the environmental assessment/planning application
and each page can be accessed from the previous one.
