Saint Martins Church ~ the Roof

The roof is a fine example, some say the best in the country, of a wagon or barrel shaped roof. Intricate carvings remain on some of the bosses and display the art of rural craftsmen. Others have worn away over the centuries. The date of 1626 can be seen on one. Another shows 1951 and displays little skill, held in place with a bent 6 inch nail!
