FONT NOTES
12th Century, of Purbeck Marble, with tapering square bowl with four round headed panels on each side, cylindrical stem and three angle shafts (one missing). This missing shaft was noted in Hutchins time.

This font has suffered considerable damage in its past. As it is so close the administrative centre of the diocese at Salisbury, is it possible that the damage resulted as a consequence of the excommunication of King John in 1209? See the font at Powerstock. The font at Osmington also has similar damage to the underside but it seems unlikely it was deliberate

The font cover is oak, octagonal, with enriched framework and turned knobs, 17th Century.

Image reset in North aisle on north wall, rectangular stone with moulded vesica-piscis enclosing seated figure of Christ in Majesty, surface much defaced, probably 12th Century. A releif in better condition is found in Toulouse, France. Calvery releif panels at Loders church were defaced in the 16th century by the iconoclastic zeal of the reformers
