FONT NOTES
Referred to by Hutchins as Norman, a 13th Century font of limestone, with square bowl with four pointed arched panels on each side, chamfered underside, massive central cylindrical stem and four inset shafts at the angles. The rear lower part of the font has suffered damage similar to the font at Sixpenny Handley although careful font lock removal suggests any damage was not deliberate.

Osmington was originally in the hands of the abbey of Milton. This is reflected in the design of the side panels and base which is common to the fonts at Milton Abbas and Whitcombe. According to tradition, the north aisle was built for the reception of the inhabitants of Whitcombe when they had no service at their own church
